A complete set of this year's winning signs has been installed in front of the Newton Free Library, at 330 Homer Street. The signs will remain at the library through the month of July.
A second set of signs will be installed in front of the John M. Barry Boys and Girls Club, 675 Watertown Street, in the coming days.
We've heard wonderful comments about this year's selections, and about how the signs bring poetry into people's lives in an accessible, unexpected way.
The 2026 Haiku Newton Celebratory Reading will be held at the library on Tuesday, June 9, at 7 p.m. The co-directors of Haiku Newton – poets Grey Held, Elizabeth Lund, and Greg Fulchino – will talk briefly about the project, now in its fifth year, and the evolution of haiku. This will be followed by a reading of the winning poems – either by the poets themselves or, if they cannot attend, by one of the hosts. The poets may choose to share reflections on their creative process and participate in a group discussion with those in attendance.
